Ages: Family camp

This pilot family camp will help us test new approaches and build a community before returning to residential summer camp for young people in future years. It will take place at a campsite near Buxton over the May 2026 bank holiday weekend – 12.00 Saturday 2 May – 12.00 Monday 4 May. Camping will be in tents – with limited indoor sleeping assigned based on need. If you would like to bring a camper van, that may be able to be arranged, and we can provide tents or you can bring your own.

Programme

  • Traditional camp cooking and games
  • Educational walks and learning activities in the stunning Peak District
  • Arts and crafts
  • Adult campfire activities – sharing experiences and ideas for encouraging critically thinking kids.
  • Kids campfire activities – using a Philosophy for Children (P4C) approach to explore big issues.

Camp Quest UK volunteer led activities will be most suitable for children aged 10-16.

Families with children younger than 10 are very welcome to attend, but may not be able to participate in all activities, and the exact activity programme will be finalised taking into account the age ranges booked on the camp.

We are committed to accessibility and will do everything we can to welcome and accommodate you and your family. There are some limitations imposed by the campsite, including very limited indoor sleeping space for those who can’t sleep in a tent. You don’t need to provide full details at this stage, but an overview of any additional needs helps us plan ahead.

  • Family tickets are for up to 2 adults and up to 2 children. Additional child places can be booked for £50 per child.
  • Camping will primarily be in tents. We have limited space for families who would like to bring a camper van, and extremely limited sleeping space in our support building which will be assigned based on need.
